What we know so far: no date; Oct 15: Microsoft AI says it has finished pre-training MAI-Base-2, a mixture-of-experts with 2.8T total and 80B active parameters, trained on 16k GB200 GPUs over 38 days in August and September on a 50T-token mix with a March 2026 knowledge cutoff, natively multimodal with vision; it is now in post-training, and Microsoft plans to license the weights to trusted partners through Foundry (microsoft.ai, read Oct 15); the post-trained model has no public name yet, so this hunt takes mai-2, mai-base-2, mai-thinking-2 and any other mai-<word>-2 outside the Image and Voice lines; Microsoft's current flagship is MAI-Thinking-1 (Jun 2). Swept every 60 seconds across provider catalogs. The moment it answers on a public API, alerts fire: a text or a call on paid plans the second it's confirmed, then a free Chrome push and email about 15 minutes later.
