Anthropic's token volume on OpenRouter is up 3.6x since Opus 5.5, by OpenRouter's own count

Anthropic's models now run about 3.6 times as many tokens a day on OpenRouter as they did before Claude Opus 5.5 launched, according to OpenRouter's own usage data. Peter Walker, OpenRouter's Head of Insights, posted the chart on X on October 25: daily tokens for Anthropic models from June 1 to October 24, with a 7-day moving average.

WHAT THE CHART SHOWS

From June through mid-September the 7-day average sat between roughly 0.5 and 0.85 trillion tokens a day. It started climbing the week Opus 5.5 shipped (September 22), kept rising through Sonnet 5.5 (September 28) and Haiku 5.5 (October 7), and ends near 2.3 trillion a day on October 24. The busiest single days are in the last week, at close to 3 trillion. Most of the new volume is Opus 5.5, with Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5 stacked on top, while the older Claude models shrink to a smaller band at the bottom.

WHAT IS SOURCED

The 3.6x figure and the chart are OpenRouter's own. We read the chart in Walker's post; the trillions above are our reading of its axis, not published numbers. Two days earlier, on October 23, Walker also wrote that OpenRouter users still send something like 4.5 million requests a day to Sonnet 4.6 and Sonnet 5.

WHAT IT DOES NOT SHOW

OpenRouter is one gateway, not Anthropic's whole business. Traffic that goes straight to Anthropic's API, the Claude apps, AWS, Google Cloud or Azure is not in this count, and the chart shows tokens, not spend, so it says nothing direct about revenue.
