ChatGPT Pro and Business now come with up to $500 a month in OpenAI API credits
An email the minute a new frontier model answers on a public API · free, no card

OpenAI added a new subscription benefit on October 28: eligible ChatGPT Pro and Business subscribers can claim free OpenAI API credits every month to build apps and agents. Each Pro plan gets its own price back as API credit, so Pro 100 gets $100, Pro 200 gets $200 and Pro 500 gets $500 per monthly billing period.
THE AMOUNTS
Business workspaces get $20 per paid Standard seat and $100 per paid Premium seat, pooled and capped at $500 per monthly billing period. A workspace billed annually up front gets the year's grant at once, capped at $6,000. Every first grant is prorated for the time left in the current billing period.
WHO QUALIFIES
Pro 100, Pro 200, Pro 500 and Business workspaces with paid Standard or Premium seats. Plus, free trials, Enterprise, Edu and legacy Codex seats are not included. The paid subscription has to have been active for at least 7 days, and the same person, on the same email, has to own both the ChatGPT subscription and the API organization that receives the credits.
WHAT THE CREDITS COVER
The grant goes to one linked API organization and pays for API Platform usage there, including Responses and Chat Completions, Agents, Realtime and Images, before any purchased credits are touched. It does not cover Codex used through API keys, and it does not raise ChatGPT or signed-in Codex limits. Monthly grants expire at the end of each billing cycle and do not roll over; once activated they renew on their own while the subscription stays eligible.
WHAT IT DOES NOT CHANGE
OpenAI's Pro tiers page still says grandfathered Pro 200 subscribers keep their previous included usage only through October 29, after which they move to the lower allowance. The new credits sit on the API side and do not add ChatGPT usage.
WHAT WE DO NOT KNOW
How long the offer lasts. OpenAI says the benefit may change or be removed in the future, and that availability also depends on the enabled cohort and country.
