OpenAI's GPT-6.1 Terra is live in its API. Our radar saw the gpt-6.1-terra id at 17:52 UTC on October 26 and fired the alert at 17:53, before OpenRouter listed it.
THE PRICE
$1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output, with cached input at $0.05 and cache writes at $1.25, per OpenAI's model page. GPT-5.6 Terra lists at $2 / $12 on OpenRouter, so input costs half as much and output well under half.
THE SPECS
A 1,050,000-token context window, 128,000 max output tokens and a June 1, 2026 knowledge cutoff. It supports reasoning tokens and takes text and image input with text output, per the same page.
HOW IT SURFACED
gpt-6.1-terra first turned up as the judge model in Microsoft's dotnet/efcore eval configs (PR #39217, merged October 16). On October 24 a GitHub engineer switched his own repo's code reviewer to it from GPT-6.1 Sol through Copilot, as a cheaper reviewer.
WHAT WE DO NOT KNOW
OpenAI's own benchmark figures, and whether it is in ChatGPT. Third-party scores will follow once the leaderboards run it.
