OpenCode's stealth models got their names on launch day: 5 of 12 claimed, a median of 7 days after listing; Iceman is still anonymous

Every anonymous model on OpenCode that has been given a name got it on the day its lab launched the model. OpenCode has listed 12 such "stealth" models since August 20, 2026, each under a codename and usually free; 5 were later claimed, a median of 7 days after OpenCode first listed them, and 7 never were, by ArtificialWatch's count from OpenCode's own pull requests.
THE FIVE THAT GOT A NAME
- Cat Jam was Reflection AI's Beam. Listed October 13; OpenCode merged its usage into Beam on October 16, the day Beam went live. 3 days.
- LL Alpha was Recursive's Flint. Listed October 16; OpenCode listed Flint 40B Free in its place on October 21, Flint's launch day. 5 days.
- Ox Alpha was Zhipu AI's GLM-5.3 Flash. Listed August 20; OpenCode mapped it to GLM-5.3 Flash on August 27, a day after that model went live. 7 days.
- Space Bunny was MiniMax M3.1 Flash. Listed September 23; OpenCode revealed it on October 19, the day MiniMax launched M3.1 Flash. 26 days.
- Fledge Alpha was Thinking Machines' Inkling 2 Small. Listed October 3 and pulled October 8; Thinking Machines' November 5 launch post says it tested early checkpoints of Inkling 2 Small on OpenCode under the name Fledge-Alpha. 33 days.
STILL ANONYMOUS
- Iceman Free, added to OpenCode's console on November 6. OpenCode's docs say it is free for a limited time and that the data it collects is retained and used to improve the model.
- Crouton Alpha Free, listed November 3.
- Iceman Contributor Free, on OpenCode Go since October 24.
No lab has claimed any of the three.
GONE WITHOUT A NAME
Pulse Alpha (listed November 2, deprecated November 6), Exo (listed October 6, no longer on OpenCode's console model list), Union Alpha (two days in September) and Omen Alpha (six days in September).
WHAT IT MEANS
On this record a stealth model's name arrives with its launch, not before: none of the five was named ahead of the model's public release. MiniMax and Thinking Machines have both said their codenames were early versions of the model they later shipped. Five of the 12 ended in a launch; four came off the list with no name, and three are still listed.
HOW WE COUNTED
Each date is the UTC date of the pull request in OpenCode's public repository (anomalyco/opencode) that first listed the model, mapped it to a named model, or removed it; for Fledge Alpha, the claim is Thinking Machines' own post. Launch dates are the days ArtificialWatch verified each model live on a public API. The full table, with every pull request linked, is at artificialwatch.com/stealth-models.
