OpenCode stealth models, and who was behind them

OpenCode has listed 12 anonymous models since August 20, 2026, each under a codename and usually free for a while. 5 were later named, a median of 7 days after OpenCode first listed them; 7 never were. Anonymous now: Iceman, Crouton Alpha, Iceman Contributor. Every date below links the pull request in OpenCode's own repository that made the change. Checked November 6, 2026.

Gone without a name

How this is counted: “Listed” is the first pull request that added the model to OpenCode's docs or code, and “Named” is the first public trace of who made it, either OpenCode mapping the codename to a named model or the lab saying so itself, whichever came first. Days are calendar days between the two (UTC). Whether a model is still listed was read on November 6, 2026 from OpenCode's console model docs and the models.dev catalog. Usage by model is on OpenCode's data page.

Quick answers

What are OpenCode's stealth models?

Models OpenCode lists under a codename without saying who made them, usually free for a limited time. OpenCode has listed 12 since August 20, 2026, and 5 were later named. Two labs have said theirs were early versions of models they released later: MiniMax (Space Bunny) and Thinking Machines (Fledge Alpha).

What is Iceman on OpenCode?

Two anonymous models OpenCode hasn't named. Iceman Free (iceman-free) has been on the OpenCode console since November 6, 2026; Iceman Contributor Free (iceman-contributor-free) has been on OpenCode Go since October 24, 2026. No lab had claimed either when we checked on November 6, 2026.

Which OpenCode stealth models have been revealed?

Fledge Alpha was Thinking Machines' Inkling 2 Small (named November 5), LL Alpha was Recursive's Flint (named October 21), Space Bunny was MiniMax M3.1 Flash (named October 19), Cat Jam was Reflection AI's Beam (named October 16) and Ox Alpha was Zhipu AI's GLM-5.3 Flash (named August 27).

How long do stealth models stay anonymous?

The 5 that were claimed were named a median of 7 days after OpenCode first listed them, from 3 days (Cat Jam, Reflection AI's Beam) to 33 (Fledge Alpha, Thinking Machines' Inkling 2 Small). 7 were never claimed; Pulse Alpha, Exo, Union Alpha and Omen Alpha came off the list without a name.

Our stories on them: six still anonymous, Iceman and Pulse Alpha. Models that went live before their lab said a word: live before it's announced. Every release: the release log.
