xAI introduced The X Subscription on October 12: one plan that covers Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium, rolling out to everyone globally over the next few days. Its $30-a-month Premium tier includes the benefits of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium+, which xAI says cost $90 a month combined.
THE TIERS
Free, $0: daily Grok access, a starter allowance for Cursor's coding agents, and standard X. Plus, $8 a month: more Grok and Cursor usage, plus a checkmark, creator tools and fewer ads on X. Premium, $30 a month: SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium+ benefits, with 4x Plus's usage. Super, $100 a month: 15x Plus's usage. Ultra, $200 a month: 50x Plus's usage.
Team seats cost the same as the individual tiers ($30, $100 or $200 a seat) and add SSO, admin controls, consolidated billing and SOC 2 compliance. xAI says that is less per seat than the old Cursor Teams plans, with three times the coding usage.
ONE POOL, AND THE CATCH FOR CURSOR USERS
Usage comes from one pool shared across Grok and Cursor, and it refreshes weekly. xAI says every plan includes at least twice the coding usage with its own models as the comparable Cursor plan did. Third-party models stay available in Cursor on Premium and above, but they are billed separately at API list prices through top-ups. Current Cursor subscribers keep their included third-party usage until they switch.
WHAT CHANGES FOR EXISTING SUBSCRIBERS
Nothing today. SuperGrok, Cursor and X Premium subscribers keep their plans and prices, and can switch with a prorated refund. The old plans are closed to new sign-ups. xAI says it will eventually move the remaining customers to the new plans, with no timeline yet and advance notice before anything changes.
WHAT WE DO NOT KNOW
The 4x, 15x and 50x figures are multiples of the Plus plan's pool, and xAI has not published how large that pool is. The $90 comparison and the "more usage per dollar" claim are xAI's own.
