Moonshot teases Kimi K3.1: its own video shows Kimi Code running the model
An email the second Moonshot’s next model answers on a public API, plus every frontier launch · no card

Moonshot AI posted a 24-second teaser video on X on October 23 whose first shot is its coding agent, Kimi Code, with the model line reading "Kimi K3.1". The video ends on the Kimi wordmark and gives no date, price or benchmark.
WHAT IS SOURCED
The video itself, from Moonshot's official @Kimi_Moonshot account, watched frame by frame. Kimi Code's start screen shows Model: Kimi K3.1 and version 2.2.0, then the agent starts building a procedural 3D scene in Three.js. The rest is a montage of rendered scenes, sketches and diagrams.
WHAT CAME BEFORE
On October 21 @LuminaBench reported that Kimi Code's model-switching warning had started naming K3.1. On October 22 @Mr_Salio and @LuminaBench said a model on LMArena under the codename "Kibitz" was K3.1, and @Mr_Salio cited @ChrisGPT for a release next week. Those claims are still unconfirmed; the teaser confirms only that K3.1 exists and is coming.
WHAT WE DO NOT KNOW
The release date, the price, and whether K3.1 ships with open weights like Kimi K3, whose weights landed twelve days after its July 15 launch. OpenRouter still lists only Kimi K3 as of October 23, and ArtificialWatch is watching the catalogs for a K3.1 id.
