Perplexity launches Teammates, always-on agents that work toward goals, for Max subscribers on the web

Perplexity launched Teammates on November 5: personal agents for work that take on ongoing jobs rather than one-off prompts. They are rolling out to Perplexity Max subscribers on the web, and CEO Aravind Srinivas says native mobile and desktop apps are coming soon.
HOW THEY WORK
- Each teammate starts from your existing Projects, skills and memory in Perplexity Computer, and uses Computer's tasks and tools.
- Teammates watch ongoing work and act when something changes, without being prompted. They remember past work and apply your feedback to later tasks.
- They can work with other teammates and message coworkers in Slack.
- Each one runs in its own isolated environment and follows Computer's existing tool and Project permissions. You can review its work, take over its desktop or redirect it.
THE IDEA
Srinivas frames it as moving from writing prompts in a session to giving agents high-level goals.
WHAT WE DO NOT KNOW
Which models Teammates run on, how usage is metered once any launch period ends, and when they reach Pro or Enterprise plans. Perplexity has not published benchmarks for them.
