GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol now run about 50% faster by default for ChatGPT subscribers, OpenAI's Tibo Sottiaux said today. He puts it at about 50 tokens per second, up from 30.

WHERE IT APPLIES

Through the ChatGPT subscription, across OpenAI's own products and the partners that use Sign in with ChatGPT, which he lists as including OpenCode, Pi, Amp and Devin. He says nobody needs to change a setting.

WHY TODAY

It is day 1 of a 28-day run Sottiaux announced on October 4: each day, OpenAI says it will either ship one clear improvement for most Codex and work users, or "ship a full reset".

WHAT WE DO NOT KNOW

Whether API speeds changed too (he only names the subscription), and what made it faster. The numbers are OpenAI's; we have not timed it ourselves.
